Luna, Why Have You Saved Us?

Luna, your pale blue light always speaks to us,
And yet, we still don’t know.
Why have you saved us?
All other creatures seem to hate us… to ridicule us.
We are hunted down and murdered, we are not welcome anywhere.
And yet you stay and shelter us, in your pale blue light.

In places where we’re tolerated, we are more often than not shunned.
Forsaken and left to fend for ourselves, in this harsh, cruel world.
We are not allowed to mingle and talk with others.
When we do we are beaten.
And yet you stay and speak to us.
You keep us feeling like people, through your pale blue light.

Luna, we were once creatures of hatred,
Crafted by a witch, hell bent on revenge.
We ravaged lands and slaughtered people, and we did it without mercy.
But when the witch disappeared centuries ago, you blessed us with sentience.
You gave us a second chance, by your pale blue light.

But why would you do that?
After all the terrible things we did, why would you do that?
Why would creatures such as us deserve the mercy, of your pale blue light.
